about

Martyn Wilson Leeds, UK

I wrote my first album, Restless, because I'd injured my arm and couldn't play instruments effectively for a year. I didn't want to give in to it, so Restless was the result.

I've written a new album for release in 2017 and the single, "Hate Thy Neighbour", is available now.

Track Name: Lift Off
Lift off,
I could have touched a cloud,
It's never over,
But my voice was just too loud,

My love,
You filled me full of doubt,
It's never over,
And I know there's no way out,

Cast off,
Your life and drift about,
Feels like it's over
Track Name: Modern Men
As you move into a different zone,
Computer memorises things you own,
A scanner recognises finger tips and irises,

Trying so hard to keep some self-control,
You hit it hard and you could leave a hole,
But all your memories and histories belong to these,

Modern men with a policy,
Modern men sans morality,
Modern men know your history,

Sustenance synthesised and never grown,
Shrink-wrapped in pockets provenance unknown,
But branded brutally and centrally for all to see,

Living in boxes with a touch screen wall,
Horizon infinite but world is small,
Forced to cooperate and you're too short to hit the brakes,

Modern men with a policy,
Modern men sans morality,
Modern men know your history
Track Name: I Aint Ever
So,
I aint ever gonna let it fall apart,
So,
I aint ever gonna let it fall apart,
And if I meet you in the middle,
Will you take the needle from my heart?
I aint ever gonna let it fall apart

So,
Should you ever try to read what's on the cards,
Oh,
Should you ever find you're trying very hard,
Then I will meet you in the middle,
But you've been running empty from the start,
And trying to hold it up just makes it fall apart
Track Name: Linger
We,
Sit on the corner,
The corner of heaven,
But we could still come undone,

She,
Dripping like water,
Tasting like chemical,
Helps me undo what's done,

But she,
She never lingers,
She never lingers,
She never lingers,
And she,
She never lingers,
She never lingers,
She never lingers,

Caught,
Up in a riptide,
Swirling through inside,
Helps me to see the sun,

Shoot,
Straight through an artery,
Now you're a part of me,
But we could still come undone,

But she,
She never lingers,
She never lingers,
She never lingers,
And she,
She never lingers,
She never lingers,
She never lingers,
Track Name: Time In The Shade
Just like a flea to an animal,
Just like what I am to you,
Just as an irritant flammable,
Boiling and burning you too,

Just like a meal to a cannibal,
I find myself feasting on you,
Recklessly burying head in the sand,
Fantasy ignore the truth,

Is it really any wonder that I'm holding on to?

Time that I take isn't worth what you give,
With open arms I arrive,
Only embarrassing - only the truth,
Only one thought that I hide,

I think with eyelids pushed back to the rims,
Biding my time in the shade,
Wading in waist-deep is never my thing,
Social construct disobeyed,

Is it really any wonder that I'm holding on to?
Track Name: Opinions
Though I never really told you so,
I hate the way you've grown,
I hate the way you've grown,
Some day I hope that I can let you know,
I can't pick up the phone,
I will destroy your throne

And now you're so high up,
But based on what?
You never really thought a lot,
Of anyone who thinks a lot

So does the mirror still lie to you?
Is it just getting by to you?
Do you let anybody through?
Oh no I'd never lie to you,
I guess you've done enough of that for both of us

And now you're so high up,
But based on what?
You never really thought a lot,
Of anyone who thinks a lot
Track Name: Manifest Destiny
Have a glass of water,
Clear your head so easily,
Manifest Destiny,
Isn't good for you and me,

Try to stop that ego,
Try to stop the flag-waving,
Try to stop the media,
Try to stop your red blood boiling

If at first you do not succeed,
Then try,
Try it again,
Bitter faces give no care for displaced races,
They will try,
Try it again

Continuing the slaughter,
The great experiment of liberty,
Manifest Destiny,
Isn't it an irony?

So try to stop that ego,
Try to stop the flag-waving,
Try to stop the media,
Try to stop your red blood boiling,

If at first you do not succeed,
Then try,
Try it again,
Bitter faces give no care for displaced races,
They will try,
Try it again

So try to stop that ego,
Try to stop the flag-waving,
Try to stop the media,
Try to stop your red blood boiling,

If at first you do not succeed,
Then try,
Try it again,
Bitter faces give no care for displaced races,
They will try,
Try it again
Track Name: Light
I wanna put it in a sculpture and hold it in place,
But you can't freeze light it's got to travel to make space,
And time (the fabric of life)
It can not be re-arranged it cannot be cut with a knife,

Oh my God,
I never saw it coming because,
Oh my God,
I never saw it coming because,
It's unconscionable,
I live in a bubble,
I keep out of trouble,
But it's so very meaningless

I wanna put it in a sculpture and hold it in place,
But you can't freeze light it's got to travel to make space,
And time (the fabric of life)
It can not be re-arranged it cannot be cut with a knife,

Oh my God,
I never saw it coming because,
Oh my God,
I never saw it coming because,
It's unconscionable,
I live in a bubble,
I keep out of trouble,
But it's so very meaningless
Track Name: Germination
3AM is my new nightmare,
Can't close my eyelids now you live there,
And my capillaries push images of you to the fore,
And yes you're standing with another as I'm knocked to the floor,

Like watching germination with care,
A flower blossom with no compare,
Suffocated by a pollen that is filling the air,
So oblivious to everything because nothing is there

Like watching germination with care,
A flower blossom with no compare
Track Name: Anxiety
I will never put my name on it,
Because I never want the blame for it,
I don't wanna feel like I've lost control,

Is there ever a right age for it?
Will I have to turn a page for it?
I don't wanna feel like I'm getting old,

I don't wanna be reactive,
But your argument's subtractive,
And I'm looking for a way to go,
You've been keeping me a captive,
And I've tried to be adaptive,
And I'm trying to make this feeling grow,

I will never put my name on it,
Because I never want the blame for it,
I don't wanna feel like I've lost control,

Is there ever a right age for it?
Will I have to turn a page for it?
I don't wanna feel like I'm getting old,

I don't wanna be reactive,
But your argument's subtractive,
And I'm looking for a way to go,
You've been keeping me a captive,
And I've tried to be adaptive,
And I'm trying to make this feeling grow,

Cus I never want the blame for it,
I will never put my name on it
Track Name: Understand
How?
How could you not let me speak?
How could you not let me speak the truth?
Though you don't understand,

And why?
Why should I believe in you?
Why should I believe the law of the land?
It's just lines in the sand,

And how?
How could you have gone to sleep last night?
How could you have gone to sleep last night,
With blood on your hands?

When you wake,
And you stretch,
And you rise,
There's a world in your hands,
And I know that you don't understand
